Strange Fates Horns

Evolved from a sketch by Brent Green for his animation sculpture ‘To Many Men Strange Fates Are Given’, these acoustic horns were parametrically generated to have axes that follow Cornu’s spiral and a flare along the mathematical curve known as the tractrix. Their interior shape improves the sound of small embedded loudspeakers, and a touch of asymmetry between left and right adds visual intrigue. Listening to them is a highly spatial experience, neither like headphones nor like loudspeakers, but somewhere between the two.
